Jon Gruden, rumored to be the leading candidate for the head coaching vacancy at the University of Miami, is "committed" to remaining as an analyst on "Monday Night Football," an ESPN executive said Wednesday.
Norby Williamson, ESPN's executive vice president for production, said Gruden expressed to him a desire to remain in the booth, where he's been since he was fired as head coach in Tampa Bay after the 2008-09 season. Gruden, who was rumored to be in consideration for a number of vacant NFL jobs after last season, reaffirmed then that he wanted to continue in television.
"He's focused on getting better," said Williamson. "My feeling is Jon's in year two of a long term contract and we expect Jon to be on "Monday Night Football" and doing what he's been doing for a long time to come."
